It has now been almost 8 weeks since our refrigerator stopped working and Warrantech still hasn't managed to get it fixed. Initially they sent a technician from a repair company not authorized to work on LG refrigerators.
After waiting for parts to be received, and then finding that the fridge still didn't work, Warrantech said they would find another company that is authorized to work on LG; so we waited for that company to send a tech, who again ordered parts, and again we waited for the parts to be received and installed. That happened on September 14th. Fridge still not fixed. This technician said he thought the problem is the compressor (duh!) and that because the compressor is still under warranty by LG, they cannot order one.
Called Warrantech again and was told they would have to find a repair company authorized to work on LG; I said the 2nd company was supposed to have been an authorized LG servicer, and was told they had let their agreement with LG lapse and that only an LG authorized repair company can diagnose the compressor as being faulty. Warrantech could not find an LG repair company in our service area, so now we are hanging out there waiting for .... ? I said if they cannot get the fridge working by September 23rd (one more week), we want them to replace it and asked to speak with someone about that.
Was told that the Tech Review Department is responsible for making that determination and that "no one talks to Tech Review, everything is done via email." Sheesh! Talk about a runaround! Warrantech probably uses these tactics hoping customers will just give up and go away. Looked on BBB and see that they have hundreds of complaints, which is not surprising.
Spare yourself from a situation like this and NEVER buy a warranty from Warrantech. The only thing they're good at is taking your money.
